Barcode font not exporting to PDF

I have a report that uses a barcode font and it works good in the standard HTML Report but it is blank when I export it to PDF. It also works when i export to tif or excel, but it fails when i goto pdf - Any ideas?Hi xhomerx,
Can you please let me know how you embedded barcode font in SQL Server Reporting Services. I have barcode font in "C:\WINNT\FONTS" but it does not appear in SQL Server R S, rather it does in MS Office.

Krishna|||Did you install the Bar Coding Font on the Computer that is running Report Services? I am not verrified that this is the problem, but it is a logical place to start. Let me know if this doesnt work and i will do some tests over here to see exactly what u need.

Im still having the problem with the Bar Codes not being showed in PDF tho - Any ideas Anyone?|||

It is a known defect/drawback in SQL RS. When I worked at my previouscompany we had a similar problem. We had plenty of talks with Microsoft( our company was a premiere customer) still we havent been able to geta proper response from MS. On another note I found a third party toolthat solves this issue. Cant remember the name off the top of my headwill post back if I remember.

Barcode font "shrinks" during PDF export

Hi all,

I'm using a free barcode font so i can create scannable tickets via reporting services 2k5. When I print the tickets, everything seems fine. But when i export to PDF though, it looks like the barcode font shrunk. All the lines are pulled together, making scanning impossible. Is there a certain setting or so that i can use to ensure the font's width ?

-Update-
The weird thing is: when i export it inside visual studio, the barcode is shown as it is supposed to in the pdf !?

And make sure your design area does not exceed the paper size set in the property box and exactly fit the paper format on the printer?
I am myself having trouble with pdf page exported from ReportManager not be not too accurate. Kind of a hit and miss trial and error page set-up formating process until it gets right.
Reporting Services is not doing an excellent job at printing things, not from a typography point of view.
Any improvement would be more than welcome.

I hate to say this, but we really did nothing to resolve the issue. Nor did I get any replies for this issue.

We just restarted the SSRS server for some reason and after that we found that it was working fine. I would suggest that you give it a shot restart the server and it may click in your case also.

I have seen several barcode fonts that do not include the correct spacing or at least do not report the correct spacing through the Win32 APIs our PDF renderer calls. It's also very possible we have a bug in that area.

If you file a bug at http://connect.microsoft.com and include the rdl and font, I'll gladly take a look.

In my own experience, the barcod39.ttf TrueType font renders properly in every renderer except pdf. In pdf, it appears to arbitrarily expand spaces to fill the control.

I'd love to see that fixed.

Barcode export to pdf solutions

Hey all,
I'm trying to decide on a barcode product for Reporting Services (SQL Server 2000 and .Net 1.1) so that I can export reports to pdf and retain the barcodes.
I've found IDAutomationhttp://www.idautomation.com/fonts/tools/reporting_services/ and NeoDynamicshttp://www.neodynamic.com/Products/BCRS/BarcodeRS.aspx?tabid=78&prodid=7 as a solution.
I was wondering if anyone has ever used either of these products to create reports for pdf export w/ barcodes? Or possibly another solution? If so, please let me know how it went.

Backup vs Export data

Please, can anyone sort this out for me?

What is the difference between backup-restore and export-import data?

So, in case of an emergency, If I do not have a backup, but I have exported data in an other database, I can import data again and everything would be ok?|||I would use backups because what the blinddude forgot to mention is that backups perserve the database objects as well (stored procedure, triggers, views, functions etc...) as well. If your environment is like mine, people are making changes all the time to this stuf.

Also, if you structure your disaster recovery correctly, you can achieve point in time recovery and minimize data loss.|||Well, you could import objects from a remote database as well, though transferring logins and permissions would be difficult.

The big reason (or one of them) for using backups is that you can maintain multiple backup files, allowing you to restore your database to any point in time, down to the minute if data corruption occurs.
