I used the database maintenance wizard and choose most of the defaults.
Every night my backups fail because of the step to check data indexes and
repair any minor problems. The error I receive is [Microsoft][ODBC SQL
Server Driver][SQL Server]Repair statement not processed. Database needs to
be in single user mode. Does anyone know why this happeneds?
Thanks,

Backups
I am using the maintenance plan wizard for Full backups and tlog backups. How do I include differential backups? Apparently I can't as part of the wizard, can I combine the current plan (full backups + tlog backups) thru the wizard and add a diff backup
seperately?
How to schedule them so that recovery would make sense?
Thanks
Yes you would simply create another job that does the diff backup... ( You
can acutally do this with the backup job Dialog box in SQL Enterprise
manager, then choose schedule.)
If you backup the whole db daily you might diff every 4 hours.. but most
folks will use diffs when they back the database up weekly... They'll do a
diff at the end of the business day, and perhaps another after nightly
batches...

Need to do sql server 2000 database and transaction log
backups. Using the backup wizard. Can back up on the
server machine no problem.
But I need to back up to another M/C which is visibly
connected by the network, and to a CD burner (which is
drive d on the server mc.) I have typed in a variety of
paths for each scenario and nothing is working.
Thank you
AnnAnn,
You need to use the UNC pattern.First create a share in that remote server,
make sure that the account under which SQL Server is running has the
required privileges/permissions on that share. After that, do the backup as:
BACKUP DATABASE <dbname>
TO DISK = '\\destserver\d$\dbbackup.BAK'

Backup Wizard 2005 Standard
I have a new installation of SQL 2005 standard and I cannot create an
automatic backup. When I launch the wizard I get an error " Failed to
retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.Sqlserver.SmoEnum) Invalid column
name 'msx_job_id'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 207). I click okay and I ca
n
then create my backup job, but upon completion I get these 2 error:
Invalid column name 'from_msx'.
Invalid column name 'has_target'.
I have to manually launch the backups each night and that work fine. I
previously was using Sql 2000 and the backup jobs ran without any problems. On Apr 19, 1:40 pm, Todd <T...@.discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:[vbcol=seagreen]
